Cleopatra, was born the 69 b.C. and she died the 30 b.C. she started reigning with seventeen years old with her brother Ptolemy, she married him. (was not strange because they conserve the royal blood)
The Queen wanted to govern alone and to take the power from his brother, this supposed a serious clash with the supporters of his brother- husband. She goes to exile in Syria.
Julius Caesar, intervened in the conflict to arrange the situation between brothers. Cleopatra is attracted by Julius Caesar and she tries to conquer him being wrapped in a carpet and offering as gift. Julius Caesar unrolls the carpet and see the Egyptian queen and falls in love. they will have a son called Caesarion.
When Cleopatra’s brother died and she was an absolute queen of Egypt. When Julius Caesar died, Cleopatra met Mark Antony and started relationship whit him. They lived through his love painfully because Octavius’ troops came to Alexandria and provoked the death of both. The queen committed suicide.
In my opinion Cleopatra is a powerful woman oh his period. In the past a woman could not reign alone. Cleopatra achieved to dominate a country without the presence of a man.
We can say that her power comes her from wit, insight and his beauty. She started a relationship with two very important men. She was converted in empress of Rome. With her insight she attained to be absolute queen of Egypt.

Ernesto Guevara de la Serna better know Che Guevara or “El Che” was born on June 14th, 1928 in Rosario, Argentina. He marries two times and has six children.
He was an Argentine Marxist revolutionary, physician, author, intellectual, guerrilla leader, diplomat, military theorist, and major figure of the Cuban Revolution.
He represents the fight against the social injustices or the rebellion and an incorruptible spirit. On the other hand, for his detractors was been a murderous and a criminal.
The ideas of Che are known as a “Guevarism”. His thought is related with the anti-imperialism, the Marxism, and the communism as a base. His objective is create a socialist society with own identity.
His greatest achievements are the triumphantly Cuban Revolution and the liberation struggles of the African peoples.
Between 1965 and 1967 he fights in the Congo and Bolivia. In Bolivia he was captured and executed clandestinely the 9th October of 1967.

We choice Che Guevara like a genius because we like their ideas. Also he fights to the equality of the people in Cuba. And the most important for us is the fact that he went against the corrupts.

John Winston Lennon was born the 9^th October 1940 at Oxford Street’s hospital (Liverpool), during a German bomber.During his adolescence he bought Lp’s imported from United States. This is how he discovered Rhythm n’ Blues. In 1956 he created the Quarrymen, the band who will finally be The Beatles, at 1958.The Beatles became one of the greatest bands in the history of music. Even after they split up (1970), they still are.After leaving The Beatles, John Lennon continued his career in solitary during ten years.Finally the 8^th December 1980 at eleven o’clock he died murdered by Mark David Chapman as John Winston Ono Lennon (Ono for his wife, Yoko Ono). His legacy still remains today.

I choice John Lennon like a genius because I like his music and his ideas and because he removed masses and consciences. Also, I think that a figure who stills latent today after thirty years later of his death is not nobody. Finally if furthermore if all the people look beyond his name and they try to understand his words and message he could change the world.

Jim Morrison (1943, EEUU -1971, Paris) was an American singer, lyricist and poet. Was the lead singer and lyrics of The Doors. Is considered to be one of the most charismatic lead singer in rock music history. Also he is the author of a lot of books of poetry. He was an intelligent person who studied: literature, poetry, religion, philosophy and psychology. He was influenced for Nietzsche, Blake, Rimbaud, Baudelaire... He is a prototypical rock star: surly, sexy, scandalous and mysterious. In the March of 1971 he travel to Paris with his girlfriend Pamela Courson and took up residence in a rented apartment. Four month later Morrison died with 27 years for a heroin overdose in his bath.

I choose this character because I think Jim Morrison and The Doors change completely the music of the sixties in America. Also I think that Jim Morrison was a very particular and a little strange person for a lot of people but also a reference and a genius for the other people because he makes a lot of contributions in the world of the music but also in the world of the poetry.

Constantly he schemes, he surprises, he entertains and he fascinates people. He began his professional career when he was 12 years old. He was the younger person admitted in “Magicians American company”. When he was 16 years old, he was already a teacher of magic in the University of New York and he silenced the assistants to Broadway's theatre with his favorite test: the "Disappearance". But he was not late in signing his first contracts in television. He founded the Magic Project in 1982 about a program of rehabilitation to help physically handicapped patients, whose program is in use in more than 1000 hospitals. His more famous tricks include making disappear the Statue of the Freedom. Also, Copperfield has pulled off some amazing stunts over the years, including levitating across the Grand Canyon and walking through the Great Wall of China.

We consider David Copperfield to be the best magician of the world, because he realized and elaborated magic tricks and he keep the attention to the spectators. Moreover, his tricks are unique and unrepeatable. It’s impressive that a child has surprised the people with his tricks and he has been considered a genius. We believe that he has a good experience and a capacity to create new tricks. There are unimaginable tricks, as for example, to make disappear the statue of liberty.
He guided to unsuspected heights of art and imagination neither that the magicians or the spectators not imagined in the past. So that, we think that David Copperfield has given a new meaning to the word magic.
All that, he can see reflected in the quantity of awards that he has received, as for example: one star in the walk of the reputation of Hollywood between others. But, also, not leave anybody indifferent!

Gaudi was born the 15 June 1852 in Reus; it was a Spanish architect and the best representative artist of the Catalan’s modernism.

His most outstanding qualities are the incredible sense for volume and geometry, and his talent for imagine and create new things never seen before, like his famous technique “el trencadís”. But, the most impressive of Gaudi, is his memory and imagination that allowed him to think and make his projects without needing to do a plan.
It was firstly influenced by the neo-gothic art, but finally Gaudi enters on the modernism and becomes a prestige architect hired by the richest on Barcelona. It’s here, in the capital city of Catalonia, where he builds his most important and relevant projects like: La Pedrera, El Parc Güell, or Casa Batlló.
Like most geniuses, his death was also particularly. The 7 June, in the morning, when he went to the church, like every day, he was hit by a tram. For his dirty aspect, no one recognized him, and no one help him, only a vagabond that helped by the police, takes a taxi to take Gaudi from the hospital. 3 days later, the 10 June 1926, Antoni Gaudi dies in Barcelona.

I consider Gaudi like a genius because of all his projects makes in Barcelona, and around Catalonia. All of theirs are spectacularly different from the others things build before, and after him. Gaudi has the capacity to imagine estrange things and make it real without use plans, having all the information in his mind and also improvising at the same moment that the work is been done.
It’s still trying to finish the Sagrada Familia, one of his most important works, which he left unfinished when he death. The difficulty for finish this work, is a clear example of Gaudi’s prodigious mind, because he thought to finish it without planes, in a short period of time.

Mr Bean goes to an exam. At the beginning he was sure of him because he knows the trigonometry, but no the statistic. He don’t know the question of statistic and he try to copy the man of his right but the man don’t want. At the end of the exam he know he has a question of trigonometry but its too late.

Alexander Pavlovich Romanov, also known as Tsar Alexander I of All the Russias, was born in Sankt Petersburg in 1777 and died in Taganrog in 1825.

The test begins and Mr Bean doesn’t know how to respond to questions from the green paper. He tries to copy the answers of his partner, but he can’t. I have chosen Bean's exam because it's so funny when he tries to copy the exam, making silly things... I really enjoy the video when he finds the other exam.

But my favourite video is the Jesu's church, i think the black man is amazing! He's like crazy !
When he starts shouting "Hallelujah" and singin " I... is from the guetto, you.. is from the guetto..." It's really funny. He's the typical gospel's church reverend.

MacGyver is in the boath with two friends more, and enemy shoot MacGyver and breaks to fall down. This makes a friend and machine for to exit the boat, with a hose and compressed air, his have a time beacause the boat downward.

Matahari’s summary.

At first, we see two soldiers that are talking about executing or not a spy. After, the scene changes, and appears a monk and a priest going into a room. Inside there is a beautiful woman preparing for leave out. She says goodbye to everyone and says thanks to the priest. Later, we see some cars arriving to a field. In there is a monk, the beautiful woman who’s name is Matahari, the priest, and some soldiers. There are some soldiers too in the field. Then a soldier takes the arm of Matahari and attached her in a post, while the priest was saying some words. A soldier gives the order and the entire soldiers that were doing a circle around Matahari shoot her.

Comment of the gadget.

The Video is about presenting a new spy gadget. It consists in a clock where behind it there is a Mobile phone. So when you put on the wall, you call this phone and you can listen what is happening at the moment on the room without anybody knowing.

I think that this gadget is very useful and interesting because you can know what is happening in the room, that’s placed the clock, without being there. It can be useful for police to find thieves… But on the other hand, I think that this gadget has to be good used, because if you don’t used correctly you can be no loyal in front of intimidation.

Summary of Mata Hari’s fragment

Mata Hari is a woman (dancer and courtesan) that works as a double agent in the First World War. She investigates for the French and for the German, but finaly she was discovered. The French considered treason from her part, and they planed a trial and an execution. In the fragment that we have watched we see the moment when Mata Hari is about to die, and finaly the moment of her execution, where she is tied to a pole in a rainforest.

My opinion of this gadgets is good, is interesting this new technology, but I think this gadgets are a little dangerous for the innocent people. Yes, their can help a sompeople but I don’t sure of this topic.

Block II : MacGyver Tricks 1
In this video, there were two men tied with plastic rope , one of them, MacGyver looked for a way to escape, he burned his plastic rope and he helped his friend, as there was a bomb and time was running out and he wasn’t able to stop the bomb, he decided to kill two birds with one stroke and tried to get rid of the bad guys and the bomb at the same time. He managed to move a pipe outside the window and throw a bomb at them through it. The bomb blew up just when the car was passing by.

Video block 1 (MacGyver I):

MacGyver and his friend are trapped and bound on an old building. They have a bomb with them, and they don’t know how to escape from the explosion. But MacGyver uses the radiator to burn his bonds and his friend’s ones. But when he tries to pump off the bomb the remaining time decreases. The men that have captured them are going away, but MacGyver throws the bomb throw the window, using a big steel tube. The bomb explodes under the kidnapper’s car and turns it over.

Video block 2 (Mata Hari):

The video starts with the discussion of two French soldiers, talking about the future execution of a spy (Mata Hari). One of them is not sure of executing her, but the other says that it will be good for the Army’s moral.
Mata Hari is in a monastery, finishing praying and ready to leave, when two priests and a nun enter the room. Mata Hari says that she is ready to leave.
She is driven throw a foggy forest, the place where she will be executed by them. On the moment of the execution she looks really calm. One part of the soldiers starts playing their drums. The other part is pointing her with their weapons. Finally, they all shout her, and she finally dies.

The poisoning scene.
The video of the scene from Casino Royal is about the poisoning of James Bond, he is playing in the Casino with a man who has a scar on his face, when he realises that his glass have a poison Bond goes to the toilet and take another glass for drink salt water to vomit. Then he can’t breath correctly, he seems dizzy and without good control and that time he goes to his car and he connects his mobile-phone to inform to laboratory.
A boy tells a woman what happens to Bond and he says that Bond has a cardiac arrest. On the other hand, a man gives instructions to Bond in the laboratory, but Bond is weak and he’s sweating a lot, and then he has to electroshock himself but he can’t because one of the cables was unplugged. Finally a woman arrives to save him connecting the cable and making the electroshock.

Block I, Summary MacGyver Tricks 1:
In this video appear two mans MacGyver and his friend, in a bedroom tied with a plastic string; in this room we see a big bomb. MacGyver see center electricity and he removes the light, with hanger deform the wire, he turn on the light and put the string on and that is brunt. Repeat this action with his friend and they are deliberate.
MacGyver take the bomb, and drop to tube and explode in the car with 3 bad mans.

Block II, Opinion Spy Gadgets Part 1 of 2: In this video we can see a clock that they included a microphone and in some case a camera, and presents and other “spy gadgets”. In my opinion, these things are very good, important and interesting technology. Is a positive aspect with the society, because help the police with the investigations, with the robs.. And others crimes. All and all, the “spy gadgets” are very important with the security with the people.

Block I: Casino Royale, the poisoning scene.
At the beginning of the scene, we can see Bond playing on a casino with others men. But, immediately, he leaves the room and he goes to the bathroom. There, he consumes a poison that makes you die. So, he starts sweating a lot, he commences to have difficulties to breathe and he’s kind of feeling dizzy. Then, he head for his car, where he has a lot of gadgets to recover himself, like an electroshock, an antidote… so, when he arrives, after some difficulties because of traffic that knock down him, he’s giving on himself an injection, the antidote. After this, he puts on his cheats a patch to connect the electroshock and try to revive his heart. But, the cable is disconnected and he can’t get an electroshock. Then, his heart is stopping to beat and his dying. But, there’s a woman who arrives in his car, and she connects the cable with the electroshock and she saves him. He’s finally save.

Block II: Opinion of gadgets
I think that this gadgets are good invents for some reasons; like you can control what’s happening in your house, your company… you can see or listen all the things that are happening when you aren’t there. There are good also because of your security, or the security of your children. You know what’s becoming without being in the place. There are fantastic invents!

In this video there are two different gadgets. First we see a simple clock but if we turn the clock we see a mobile phone for hear what people say in a room. This gadget can be used for some parents for controlled the nanny of their children.
Also we see a video camera that is placed like a pin to conceal in the jacket. For this the people can control all the situations and can be used for demonstrate everything. This camera is connected with another camera with a display for see the images.

Summary about MacGyver Tricks:

McGyver and his friend are arrested in a room with a bomb. McGyver is trying to draw his plastic handles; for this he breaks a metal air vent, inside there is an electric cable which one with the help of a perch burns the plastic handles. Then he burns the plastic of his ankles and also of his friend.
After this he sees that the bomb is connected. In a window of the room there is a plumbing. McGyver puts the bomb in the plumbing. When the bomb comes to the ground the delinquents who arrest the two boys pass with the car over the bomb and they shoot out the air.

Personal opinion about the Megawhat Spy Gadgets:

I think that these gadgets are good for a lot of occasions. For example when you are not sure that in your house there are a spy or a thief.
But also these gadgets in excess attempt the personal life of the people. Because all the day you are checked by many video cameras and microphones. In some sites like a hotel, a restaurant, supermarket, shops and others you can be recorded by tree or four videos cameras and I consider these very excessive. Then you don’t know who is controlling all these videos.

Summary: casino royal: the poisoning scene.

James Bond is in a casino playing poker with a man who has blue eyes and a scar on his eye. Bond drinking a cocktail and begins to feel sick. The opponent has poisoned.
James begins to feel sick and stop playing and to go to the bathroom and takes with him a glass and salt. When he is in the bathroom is dizzy, he’s hot and drink water with salt and vomiting.

Then comes out into the street and a car hits him. When he arrives to your car is injected a substance that connects to a lab. A boy tells a woman that Bond is poisoned and has a cardiac arrest.
A man gives instructions through a computer and Bond pay attention. He says take the defibrillator and attach the patches. Another boy reported that Bond has a tachycardia. A man ordered to Bond press the red button but he does not work because one of the cables is offline, everyone is nervous. Bond finally is to find. A girl shows up to help she connect the cables and press the red button of the defibrillator. Bond jumps and reacts.

Summary: MacGyver tricks 1.

MacGyver and another guy are locked in a room with his hands and feet tied. The boy is very worried but MacGyver thinks a possible solution to break the plastic that they have tied. MacGyver seen a radiator protected by a steel plate. MacGyver Kicks to the plate and threw to the ground, then with a hanger he deform the wire is inside the radiator and he light the radiator. The other boy looks very attentive to MacGyver and he asks MacGyver’s what doing and this tells him he burn the plastic of hands and feet because is impossible to break with a hands.
When the wire is hot MacGyver let burn the plastic of their hands until it breaks and then do the same with the feet. When MacGyver is liberated he brings the boy to the radiator to burn your plastic and MacGyver defuse a bomb.
MacGyver decreases the time of explosion. The boy looks out the window and sees that the kidnappers leave. MacGyver tells the boy to hold the pump while he deflects a pipe. Finally MacGyver pulled the bomb through the pipe and explode under the car of the kidnappers.

Leonardo da Vinci was born the 15th of April 1452 in Italy, and he was dead the 2nd of May 1519. Leonardo da Vinci was an architect, sculptor, inventor, musician, engineer and a painter. He was a Renacentist, an Humanist considered one of the greatest painters of all time in the history. Leonardo was spent the longest period of his life (nearly 20 years) in Milan, and then returned for shorter periods in futures years. He was honored with the title of First Painter, architect and mechanic of the king and a pension of 5,000 crowns. Leonardo da Vinci, painted the picture of “Mona Lisa” or “Gioconda” , and this picture is very famous because Leonardo applied his famous invention, the “sfumato”, and he gets this ambiguity in the smile and look of the girl. Another paintings are The Last Supper, Vitruvian Man, etc, and related to the military engineering, the foundry and assembly of the big guns.

I chose Leonardo da Vinci because I think that he was a great inventor of gadgets that we use nowadays, for example the parachute, the bicycle, etc. His painting was very famous in the world because he paints "Mona Lisa", a painting that doesn’t express the happiness but doesn’t express the sadness, and the look of the girl was impressive. I think making all this in a painting, the expresion and he look, was very dificult and he did it.

Mozart's complete name was Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophilus Mozart. He was born in 1756 in Austria, and dead on 5 December 1791. Mozart was an Austrian composer and pianist. He was a master of classicism, considered one of the most important musicians in history. His first tours to Europe made him famous and was acquainted with the musical styles of Europe, and he was the first major composer who tried to establish a degree independent. Mozart is son of Leopold Mozart and when he was six years old, he demonstrates his skills in music. He married Constanze Webwe, sister of his former love and like many musicians of his time, Mozart died in total poverty.

I chose this character because I think that Mozart was a genius example for child, and left us with many major symphonies; among the most representative were Symphony No. 35 in C Major and Symphony No. 41 in C major. And the pieces he composed continue to affect today, both in his time as today's music, is much admired.

Pablo Picasso died in 1973 in Mougins, France. His final words were “Drink to me, drink to my health, you know I can’t drink any more.” He was buried at the Château of Vauvenargues near Aix-en-Provence.

Quentin Tarantino is a well-known film director that was born in 1963 in Tennessee (America). His career started when Lawrence Bender offered him a job as a screenplay writer. Since then, he has directed a lot of exciting films that received loads of positive critics. The first film he directed was “Reservoir Dogs”, which won the Critic’s Award at the Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival. There are also other films that have been directed by this cinema genius such as: “Pulp Fiction”, “Deep Proof”, and many more.
His work is valorized as the plot of his films is perfectly done and includes psychological elements in them. Quentin Tarantino is an example to follow by other directors because he is a cinema prodigy, and has and outrageous mind.

Salvador Dali was born in 1904 in Figueres (Spain) he is considered as the most important painter of the surrealist art movement. He took over the Surrealist theory and he transformed it into a more positive method that he named “critical paranoia”.
He joined a Surrealist group in Paris where he meets Gala and he falls in love. They started a relationship that continued until his death in 1982.
During that period Dali focuses on eroticism and paints pictures as “The Great Masturbator”. At the age of twelve he discovers the style of the French impressionists and becomes an impressionist, later he knows Picasso’s art and become a cubist. Finally he died in 1989 at the age of 85.

Dali is known for his for his surrealist paintings, they are very impressive. He had the ability to create a personal style and recognized in all the world. One of his best known works is “The Persistence of Memory”. He showed provocatively all the intimate situations of his life and thoughts.

We admire Dali for his great imaginative capacity. For being like he was in spite of being criticized by it. As we can see in his biography he was very precocious
When we see his paintings we escape from the real world and we enter in a dream that we can control.
Two years ago I went to his museum house, and I saw a lot of interesting things and I could see how exentric he was. He only had his bedroom, he never invited to sleep anybody. He had a mirror in the bedroom focused at the window, so that when he awoke he could see the sun without leaving the bed. He was an interesting person .

He thought the sun revolved in itself. He supported the Copernico’s theories of the movement of the World and for these reason he had a lot of problems with the theologians and the church. We admire Galileo Galilei, because he is a very popular genius and we work Galilei in primary and we think his discovers are interesting for Humaidan, because this discovers changes the concepts and the theories of the galaxy and the planets.

Coco Chanel was a revolution fashion designer and French creator of perfumes. She was born in 1883, in a very poor family that sometimes didn’t even have anything to eat.
When she was 17 years old, she learned to sew, and in this moment she dreamt to become a famous designer.
She opened her first hat’s shop in Paris in 1909 aided by men that she had sex relationships with.
Everybody saw in Coco as the pioneer of feminism and ready to break formulas and schemes. She criticised the feminism fashion (big hats laden with furs and flowers animals, corsets…)
Coco Chanel's mode is more simple, comfortable, straight lines, but with a touch to high distention. One of her famous phrases is: "everything that goes out of fashion is fashion". In this time launched in the market a perfume very important, Chanel Nº5.
Although the recession she designed the costumes by actress like Katherine Hepburn, Grace Kelly…
I admired this woman, because in this time when women were considered few important in the society, Coco transformed a feminism model of fashion and impose an other completely opposite. She was a woman with character and she was capable to dominate mens, they do what she wants.

Leonardo da Vinci was the renaissance man par excellence. He was born in 1452 and lived for 67 years, during which he cultivated the fields of botanics, mathematics, engineering, hydrodynamics, optics, anatomy, painting, sculpture, architechture, writing and music. He was a very curious man, and many of his works are considered masterpieces, as for example Mona Lisa and The Last Supper. Apart from these works, many others have become really famous, as (among others) the Vitruvian Man (aka The Canon of Proportions).
His work, apart from being influential in different areas of knowledge, is the example of an extreme sense of curiosity, zeal for work and interest in life in general, which is an example to follow by present day people.

Here are a few funny clips for you to enjoy. Watch and listen to them a couple of times; if necessary, use the subtitled fragments (remember you should select a fragment according to your level!).

Task: Write a summary of at least two of the fragments and, after deciding which one you liked most, write a short comment justifying why. Do not forget to write your name at the end of the comment and to send it to your teacher.

You can select your own video, but remember that it has to be in English (with or without subtitles) and that you have to include the link in your comment so that we can add it to the blog.
